Black Pepper comes from the evergreen tree Piper nigrum. Black pepper, green pepper and white peppercorns are the same fruit with difference in their color due to varying stages of development and processing methods. Sri Lankan Pepper has a higher Piperine content, which gives it a superior quality and pungency. Known for its distinct pungent flavor and aroma used mainly in savory dishes, but also accentuates fresh produce.
Black pepper contains free radical scavenger pinene, which counteracts oxidative stress from consuming high fat diet. Piperine increases absorption of selenium, Vitamin B, beta-carotene and other nutrients.
